The Solution to All of our Problems

Very rarely do I post seriously on here. But this is one of those times. I was scrolling down my Google Reader this morning, and I came across an article penned by my favorite journalist, Thomas Friedman.

For those of you who are too lazy to read the article, here's a choice excerpt:
“All you need to do is grant visas to two million Indians, Chinese and Koreans,” said Shekhar Gupta, editor of The Indian Express newspaper. “We will buy up all the subprime homes. We will work 18 hours a day to pay for them. We will immediately improve your savings rate — no Indian bank today has more than 2 percent nonperforming loans because not paying your mortgage is considered shameful here. And we will start new companies to create our own jobs and jobs for more Americans.”

Now why don't we do this? I've made my fair share of... questionable jokes at the expense of others. But really, we need to be issuing more visas to these people. Immigration has receieved a bad rap as of late with the health care and language issues people coming to our country have had. But what is wrong with raising the targeted visas to skilled workers? We're stuck at issuing 50,000 visas to highly skilled workers every year, with no movement towards raising this. We should be throwing our doors open to these people that want to come to our country, they'll do just what that quote about states.

Ugh, like Adam Carolla, if I ran the world, things would be much different.
